  • TILES 2021 – Using L1 in the Classroom

    TILES2021 Call for Proposals

    Submission Materials:

    (1) Abstract: 100-200 words describing your intended presentation (in English or Japanese).

    (2) Presenter Bio: Up to 100 words describing yourself and your current teaching situation (in English or Japanese). Submit to Vikki Williams: w_vikki@auhw.ac.jpSubmission Deadline: Friday, July 16Presentations should be between 20 – 30 minutes, followed by a 10-minute Q & A session.

    We welcome presentations in either English or Japanese; however, it would be appreciated if important information was available in both languages.

    Presentations should include one or some of the following:

    • Describe the presenter’s own research.

    • Describe the presenter’s own classroom experience.

    • Give practical examples or ideas for classroom use.

    Hi everyone. Our October event will not be in Morioka. We will be up in Hirosaki, Aomori at Hirosaki University for a special event called the Tsugaru Innovation in Language Education Symposium. Here is the information below.

  • Bonus Talk: Extensive Reading – Thomas Bieri in Hirosaki

    Update(April 18): My apologies. I indicated the Sunday times for the talk instead of the Friday time of 18:00-19:00.

    I just heard back from my contact in Hirosaki, Edo Forsythe that we’ve been able to get Thomas Bieri in for another talk on extended reading. This talk will take place on Friday, April 24th, just a couple of days before he comes to Morioka. If you are in the area and want to attend, here are the details:
