DEADLINE MAY 22 – TODAY!!
Come and join us for a fun and relaxing dinner the Saturday evening before the MEES conference ! Make new friends and share ideas over some drinks & eats! Details are listed below, but we do ask that those planning to join us PLEASE LET US KNOW BY FRIDAY, MAY 22 so that we can confirm numbers with the restaurant.

Place: La Plaza-te Hachinohe (らぷらざ亭 八戸) (Izakaya style restaurant that specializes in famous local dishes !)

SHUTTLE BUS INFORMATION *updated*
We have worked out a new shuttle bus arrangement with Kosan Taxi. The schedule and pickup / dropoff schedule will remain the same as previously posted (copied at bottom).
However, the vehicles are smaller (large-sized van… sorry I don’t have a photo) and we would like to get an estimate of how many people plan on using the shuttle bus service between the station and the conference venue so we know how many vehicles to request.
So, please let us know (as a comment to this post) if you intend on riding the shuttle bus. Thanks !!
Here is the schedule we have arranged:

Sunday, May 31st (going to conference)
9:00am – Hachinohe Station (shinkansen) – shuttle bus DEPARTS from outside of the WEST EXIT (西口)
~9:20am – Hon-Hachinohe Station (for downtown, local train / bus transfer) – bus pick up outside of the WEST EXIT (西口)
~9:45am – Bus arrives at Hachinohe Gakuin University (conference sessions start from 10am)

(returning after conference)
16:45 – Bus leaves Hachinohe Gakuin University
~17:15 – Bus arrives at Hon-Hachinohe Station (for downtown, local train/ bus transfer)
~17:45 – Bus arrives at Hachinohe Station (shinkansen)

BENTO LUNCH BOX ORDERS
We would like to start taking orders for prepared Bento lunch boxes for conference. They will be 500 yen (!!) prepared by our university’s own cafe staff.
Please request your bento order with us by TUESDAY, MAY 26th.
Be advised that here are no convenience stores / restaurants within walking distance of our campus, so please remember to bring something to eat on your own if you don’t plan on purchasing a bento lunch.
There are also drink vending machines on campus. Complimentary coffee and tea will also be made available throughout the day.

GETTING TO THE MEES CONFERENCE AT HACHINOHE GAKUIN UNIVERSITY BY CAR
Our university is on located the outskirts of the city. It is easily accessible by car, serviced by a very limited number of public bus routes, and inaccessible by train.
So, for anyone coming to Hachinohe by public transport, we have arranged a free shuttle bus service at Hachinohe’s two major train stations both to and from the university on the day of the conference. I will detail that information in a separate post.

If you are heading towards campus on the Hachinohe – Kuji Expressway (八戸久慈自動車道), please exit at “Tanesashi-Kaigan Hashikami-Date” and head towards “Kabushima Tanesashi”. The campus is only a couple of minutes from that exit.
There is free parking available on campus and we will have staff members helping to direct guests.
Please be aware that we share our campus with our Junior College, so be sure you are at the right side of campus !
For those coming on your own, please double check your directions to Hachinohe Gakuin University campus before heading out on Sunday, as we may not be available to respond to messages or e-mails asking for directions on Sunday.
